TESTIMONIALS FROM SCHOOL VISITS
“We were really fortunate to have Em visit Eltham Hill School and give a really brilliant World Book Day talk to the whole of Year 8. She discussed all of her fiction and non-fiction books, as well as talking candidly about her experience of growing up in the care system and her journey to becoming a writer.
She was so warm and engaging throughout and gave really thoughtful answers to students’ questions, as well as signing our library books and chatting to students and staff members after the talk. Our Year 8s have been talking about how much they enjoyed the talk and we’re really keen to have her back soon — I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking to book an author visit for Key Stage Three students.”

“Emma visited our school to talk to our children about her novel ‘Fable House’ – she spoke to children in Years 4, 5 and 6. She engaged the children from the very start of her talk and they sat engrossed for the entire time. Emma had pitched the talk so that all the children were able to access it, she has a fantastic rapport with the children and our curriculum provision was enriched by her visiting us. After the talk, Emma spent time with each of the children who had bought a copy of her book – all of the children loved being able to talk to an author. I would highly recommend Emma as a visiting author to any school. As a school we are passionate that every child should see themselves in a book, and Emma is able to fully embody this idea. Her book is fantastic and would be great for confident Year 4 readers and beyond.“

“I would like to thank you for writing this book. Having been closed for the most crucial part of the school year, we were worried about attainment. However, we have found that the children are more engaged in Literacy and Guided Reading than ever (this is mostly due to your book!). The majority of our Year group (45 children) come from a BAME background, and they are finally studying a book they can relate to personally… We are all so enjoying the book, our Literacy lead said that it is the most engaged she has seen children – ever!“
